Hi, I am D. Dennis Parnell. My first name is Daniel but have always been called by my middle name, “Dennis”. For more than 20 years, I have been committed to helping people find hope, healing, and personal growth through counseling. My passion for helping others began through theological training and ministry. Along that journey, I realized that many people needed support that extended beyond what traditional pastoral care alone could provide. This led me to pursue professional training as a clinical counselor.

My counseling approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), insight-oriented therapy, and a systems perspective. I believe that many emotional and behavioral difficulties develop within unhealthy relationship patterns, and that healing occurs within safe, healthy, and supportive relationships, including the therapeutic relationship itself. For clients who desire it, I also incorporate biblical principles and Scripture into the counseling process.

Some of the challenges I help clients address are struggles I have worked through in my own life. These experiences have deepened my empathy and strengthened my belief that recovery, growth, and lasting change are possible. Carl Jung used the term "Wounded Healer" to describe this concept, and it is one that resonates deeply with me.

I earned my Master's degree in Counseling from Liberty University in 1994 and have been a Licensed Mental Health Counselor since 2007. I am currently licensed in both Florida and Indiana.

Throughout my career, I have worked in community mental health centers, substance abuse treatment programs, psychiatric hospitals, detoxification facilities, juvenile justice settings, correctional institutions, and programs serving individuals living with chronic mental illness. These diverse experiences have equipped me to work with a broad range of emotional, behavioral, relational, and spiritual concerns.

Today, I provide counseling through secure telehealth services, making professional support accessible, convenient, and confidential for clients across Florida and Indiana.
